My granddaughter, Michal Zoe, at the suggestion of her father, my son, Michael,  recorded

her first CD of a song that she wrote.  When I asked her, where the inspiration for the song came, she replied, “While I was in the bathtub.  It just came to me, Grandma.” So i wrote it down.  She showed me a piece of paper, with what looked like piano keys, along with words, she said they were musical notes and words of her song, Three Best Friends.  She sang while she read her “sheet music.”  Her 4 year old sister, Nya Jo,  found the beats and background music on the keyboard.  I found the melody line on the  keyboard and served as studio engineer.  Her Dad Mike, burned the project  to CD.  Arin, her 4-year old brother (and twin to Nya Jo), generously gave spiritual support.   I gave her a special embossed lime-green CD case. And Michal Zoe, wrote the name of her first song, the date and year onto her CD, as she too, realized this was a milestone moment.   Before Mike and the kids, left for home, I said a special prayer over each of my three grandkids, and encouraged them to keep making music.  I must add here that Michal Zoe allowed only one other song to be recorded onto her CD.  That of her musical mentor–no not me, but Alicia Keyes.

“Michal when you meet Ms. Keyes, be sure to tell her about this moment with your first CD in hand; just how positive a role model she is to you.”
